Yellow ball sponge

Does anyone have any info on a yellow ball sponge? I guess that is what it is called. LFS person just said, It's a sponge, duh. Anyway, it's bright yellow and a little smaller than a baseball, perfectly round. Are they hard to keep? I've had it about 2 weeks and it's growing spikes out everywhere.

They're ornamental and add color to your tank. No real needs other than some planktonic food. Also, they don't like a lot of light (not that they hate the lights, just make sure algae doesn't start growing on it).

what can you do if the sponge starts to grow algae? If you move it to lower light will it stop?
