Yellow Fiji Leather

Hi all,
I just put a yellow fiji leather in my 12gallon nanocube with the stock lights....the polyps are all closed up and have been all day. I am not being impatient, just curious as to how long people have waited for their polyps to open up, if there is something that I should be checking for? I think my lighting is sufficient since this is a soft coral and should sustain live under the pc's. Any advice on this matter, would be greatly appreciated.

I'd have to agree with DragonBoy on this one. Plus, in addition for them taking about a week to open, the yellow fiji and toadstool leathers are by far the hardest softies to take care of. However, they are still very keepable, you just have to have enough light, and patience, and good water quality. By the way, either of those leathers get H U G E...they will outgrow your tank, which means some fragging will need to be done eventually. *hint* *hint* LOL!!!

Thanks for the quick replies everyone.... I will be patient, and as far as outgrowing the tank, I am not worried because I can move some frags out to my larger tank or like emperor11 said hint hint....

Ok,
The fiji leather started to shown signs of life, i think?? :notsure: It has pimple like buds popping up here and there. Is this promising. Also, I have noticed today that there is a tear (small circluar piece missing) on the outer edge, is this decay? And finally, when the leather came to me it came as one piece situated on two golf ball sized rocks. Could the leather be split to have two separate pieces, and if so what is the best way to attempt this. Actually where the gouge is, this is where the two rocks separate.

yup, just use a razor blade and cut it down the middle. I got a small leather that was showinf singsof decay. everyday i held it in fromt of a power head and used my finger to scrub the spot. in a couple of days it stopped and started to heal, and now its just fine and growing.
