**Yellow/Green water (algae bloom?)

Thanks in advance for any info that can be dupplied!
All of my water recently turned yellow/green. I assume it is an algae bloom. What can I do to fix? Some details on my tank: 125gal with fish, crabs (emerald, sally light foot, porcelain, electric blue hermit, scarlet hermit), and turbo-snails only, CC substrate (about 1.5"), about 50# of LR (but the person who gave me the tank didnt take care of the tank at all... so anything alive in the rock is long dead). I have a sump and an in-sump protein skimmer. I also have a cannister filter with various chemical filter media in place (opposite side of tank from the overflow box that drains to sump). My ammonia and nitrite levels are at 0. My nitrate levels are a little higher than I would like. Also, my tank sits near a window (I am going to move it away from the windows when I do my next water change later this week). I am also adding 30# of fully cured fiji LR and 20# of fully cured LS on Wed.
Any ideas on how to reduce the nitrates and get rid of the algae/ green water??

How long has the tank been setup? Usually newer tanks tend to get an algae bloom that goes away once the natural biological processes are all in sync.
Do you happen to have a phosphate test kit? I believe high phosphate levels can lead to increased algae.

Well, my friend had it for years. He gave it to me a few weeks ago. I obviously had to do a 100% water change to get it home.... and have done 15-20% every 2 weeks since then (about 1 month). I also added the cannister filter for extra filtration and water movement and the inverts (crabs and snails). So, it has been in it's current state for 2 or 3 weeks now... and I only noticed the yellow/green water a week or so ago. Hope this helps...
