yellow pllypss and mushroom coral

do you have o feed thiscorals or do they feed themselves. My lfs didnt know and i dont want tthem to die.

Greetings. People do different things but if your water condition is good (or very good), you actually don't really need to feed them. I make sure to add calcium and strontium regularly, and place them in a spot they like. They are good hardy corals. :D
 
Nope-don't have to feed them. They have the single celled organisms inside them that help feed them.....zooxanthellae. They provide added nutrients to help feed the corals and to keep them healthy. A strong light is needed to keep producing and keep these creatures alive. Sometimes food may pass by a coral and a "arm" might reach out and grab it and put it in it's mouth. But those types of corals don't need to be fed they feed themselves.

Sure. Some people use turkey basters to shoot food at them. I'm not sure there will be much to see with the corals that you were talking about though.....but by all means go for it.

Yellow polyps and mushrooms are really nice looking but if you want a coral that is fun to feed try something like a bubble coral or an open brain.
