How long will it take for a small colony of 5 polyps to double in size?

Well as for growth of any coral, its really deoendant upon your system. Lighting, nutrients, and other things really effect growth rate.

do you have any peppermint shrimp? Mine was eating my yellow polyps. There is also some other inverts that munch on 'em. Do some research.
once the shrimp was out of the tank, my polpys went from about 5 to 15 in less than 2 months.
