Gold Striped Maroon clowns start out with white stripes when they are babies. Their stripe turns yellow as they grow and mature. Hope this helps...

Because they look like yellow stripe maroons... What I mean is that even though the stripes aren't yellow, they still look like maroon clowns... there are other differences in how they look than the color of their stripes. SWF.com calls them "yellow stripe" but that's just another name for "maroon clown." Same fish, two different common names.
The stripes will turn yellow at approximately one year of age, starting with the stripe closest to the front of the fish. If you click my username and go to my website, I have pictures of my oldest maroon as he's aged under my "55 Reef," but they are mixed in with other pics so you may have to go through a few to find them.
As for this site, I've bought two from them... one about September 2005 (the one on my website) and one a couple months ago for my nano. I still have both of them and they are doing great!

I dont like defending when the site has wrong identification or information and would encourage them to fix it instead. even if what you say is correct the picture for the aquacultured GSM and the wild regular maroon are the EXACT same picture so it cant be both
the clown in the pic is a size where it should have the gold stripes or at least beginning like the one in the wild GSM where the front stripe has turned gold. If you go to a pet store looking for a gold stripe maroon you expect to pick one with gold stripes. should be the same with online ordering.
Just like the Citron clown goby they have isn't a citron and people have said they recieved whats in the picture (a regular yellow clown goby). its been that way since I've discovered this site, more than enough time to correct it.
just like they have the gold rim tang (Acanthurus nigricans) as "easy" when it has a very poor record in captivity I'm almost positive they have the level of care if not the fish all together mixed up with the powder brown they have listed (Acanthurus japonicus). also been there forever. also been brought up before.
they do from time to time make mistakes and/or poor recommendations like most other sites.
