Yellow Tang Problem

I just noticed this so I guess he did this today. There is a long white strip on both sides of his body that run from right behind his mouth straight back to just before his tail.
Is this a scrape of some sort from going through rocks?

Is it on both sides of the tang?
Can you show us a pic?
Yellow tangs do have a 'stripe' that is on their sides that usually blend in with their color (yellow).

Its ok, that is its natural stripe that can become more noticeable in the dark or when upset or stressed.

He should be fine. Just make sure he gets a nice variety of food, including PLENTY of veggies.
