Yellow Tang Problem

My yellow tang is small. About 2 inches.
His coloring is fine on his body but I noticed around his face theres a couple of reddened areas around his eyes and snout, not too noticable but they are there. It
appears that the yellow on his face is fading
away and becoming transparent almost kinda turning into white and red where the yellow used to be. He doesnt look sick at all, just lost quite a bit of yellow coloring in his facial area. Is he sick? He swims around good and eats like a pig. I was wondering if this is something I should be concerned about. By the way, I have a 12 gallon tank with my 2 inch yellow tang, and 1 inch clown, three 1 inch damsels, and 1 inch strawberry gamma...is my tank overstocked?
help me out, I'm a beginner

Oh yes, this is something you should be concerned about. The problem is HLLE--head and lateral line erosion. Very common with tangs.
Why in the world do you have a tank in a 12gal tang? This fish cannot live in a 12 gal tank.

Your tank is over crowded. That tang will out grow that tank very quick. You really need to up-grade your tank or get rid of some fish. Most tangs are pretty acceptable to sickness, especialy that small.

The fish should be taken back to your lfs. You can upgrade your tank, but the tang isnt going to make it in a 12 gallon. If your lfs said you can get the fish in that tank you need to stop going to them. I just bought a complete set-up for a ten gallon and it said that you can put salt water fish in a ten gallon and that is silly. My tang in my 60 gallon tank is almost crowded.

I just lost my yellow tang, had for 3.5 years, to this. No one around here knew what it was. The final stage is swimming in a small circle and blindness. Wish had better news.

I'm with Beth.Your fish is sick and YES YOUR TANK IS TO CROWDED!!!You either need to up-grade soon or drop alot of fish.As well as talk to your lfs.If they agree that your tank is fine then find a new store. You could probably keep that one clown in there by it self and that would be pushing it.You keep just damsels and be doing the same. But that tang needs room.Thet get big and get there pretty quick.
