I'm by no stretch of the imagination an expert but I would say that as long as your parameters are okay, then you can keep a tang or any other fish. If for example your nitrates are high, then you may have an underlying problem (bad skimmer, not enough water changes etc.)

While tangs do produce a fair bit more waste than most fish (on account of their constant grazing), unless you're stocking heavily with them then the skimmer brand won't make that big of a difference.
Personally, I wouldn't do a yellow in a 75g, partly because of their need to constantly graze, but more so due to their aggressive nature in smaller tanks. You're certainly welcome to give it a shot, but be sure to add this fish last out of all the fish you'll put in there.... and be aware that it could get aggressive.

Not trying to stir anything up to the tang police but i think 75 is fine for a yellow...just make sure you can handle the bio-load. I am going to keep a yellow in a 75 but my tank is fairly long(60 inches)

why the yellow......and idk if this is correct, but i think it is...why do ppl think that the yellow tank is the best tang for a smaller tank when it get as big if not bigger than any other tang, and in MO is one of the worst looking tangs...i would go with a different tang...JMO

Yellows only get to 8 inches (though there's a member on the boards here who has a 10 inch tang). Some other tangs get to 12, 18, and even up to 24 inches.
I personally like the yellow tang and am planning on getting one for my own tank (a 180g)...
