How long ago did you buy him, days or hours? It is normal for any fish to lose color at first, but not for long. Please tell us how long you have had him and if he has eaten yet. Explain if he is in the QT or DT, what sized tank, and what is in it.

That is normal for any tang to become discolored for a day. I assume that the 100 is a display tank. Keep a close eye on him. Do you have a qt tank cycled? How much LR do you have in this tank? How old is it?

Oftentimes, tangs develop minor symptoms of HLLE in the fish store. Most fish stores do not feed enough greens to their tangs and do not clip veggies in the tanks. So if you get a tang that has been there for a while, they show some signs. Assuming it's minor, the problem is pretty easy to reverse. Feed lots of veggies and use some garlic. Make sure that the tang gets to graze on nori or some other veggie on a clip. If this is the problem, it will get better over a little time.
