Just wondering what a-lot of you have against "yellow tangs?" They don't cost you an arm and a leg to purchase and i think they look great and add color to the surroundings. Don't you agree?

yellow tangs are a great fish. They are active and playful. But they are tangs and thus need a lot of room to swim. Usually a 6 ft long tank is recommended. If placed in a smaller tank you risk stressing the fish and causing a break out of ick.

I have kept yellow tangs in the past with no problem, they are relatively peaceful and they can be kept with a vast array of species, including peaceful to aggressive. I kept mine for several years with a lion fish, and trigger in a 75gal. with no problem. yes, they grow quite large. and all tangs are infamous for stressing easily and contracting ick.
the controversy is their quick growth, and tank size. Its a personal decision to go for it or not.
