Dear hobbyist , I brought my Yellow Tang from a local pet store in Stratford, Ct. about a year ago, it was 1.5 inches . I began feeding it dried seaweed ,spiralina brine shrimp ,spiralina ,hilkari pellets , and formula one . My Yellow Tang is now 4.5 inches in my 150 gallon aquarium . It can be aggressive towards other tangs with the same shape . But its a hardy fish .

If you are going to feed your tang lettuce, feed it ROMAINE lettuce and not ICEBURG. Iceburg has no nutritional value and romaine does. You can also use NORI and you will find that in your asian section of ethnic foods in your local market.

I would say it would be the same. I personally have seen it fed to many fish in public aquariums in mauii, cozumel, florida, california, texas, as well as vegas. I personally feed them to my fish when I am out of nori and give the same advice to my customers if they are finding that their tangs and other herbivores are whithering away.

The food value of nori lies in its high protein content 25-35%, vitamins and mineral salts, especially iodine. Its vitamin C content is about 1.5 times that of oranges.

I prefer romaine over Nori personally. I have seen a better /faster weight gain in those that fed ROMAINE vs. those that fed NORI. Nori is higher in protiens, calories, iron, iodine, etc but there is caloric, nutritional, and mineral value in lettuce.

I have a sailfin tang that's loves romaine lettuce. I don't have a constant supply for the sailfin because it eats to much of it.
The sailfin will eat & eat & eat, until its so full it will float around like a big'ol balloon.
