How much light/flow? A better description of the tank would also help. The reason it isnt extending its polyps is probably because there isnt enough or too much flow.

One power head Toadstools in middel of the tank and about halfway up.

sorry to say, but I think the low level of lighting is slowly killing him... Mine was doing the same under my 260w PC untill I upgraded to MH for him, now he is living large and growing strong.
