Yellow Watchman Goby Survival Story

I purchased my Goby almost 1 year ago. Six months after buying him he disappeared. Last month my bulkhead on my overflow busted and I had to drain the tank. Inside the overflow was my goby. Now a Albino Goby because he lost all his color.
He is doing well and I wonder if his color will ever comeback?

Last week I purchased my Goby a new buddy. The guy at the LFS told me it would be unlikely that I could pair the two. He suggested buy a paired set they had there. But instead I gave it a shot and now they are best buddies. I am having a blast watching them. Here is a picture of the pistol shrimp.

That's amazing! Reminds me of the time when my friend lost her gerbil but then it turns out it was living in the pipes in her house and she found it alive 8 years later.
So do shrimp and gobies buddy up or something?

Wow..So what did the gerbil eat? I believe its common in the ocean for pistol shrimp to pair with certain Gobys. Since the shrimp are blind they rely on the goby to be his eyes and in return the shrimp digs up sand to make a home or safe haven for the goby. If I am wrong someone correct me.
I saw on your profile that you scuba dive. I am an advance PADI diver and I actually was certified open water in Santa Barbara.

It depends on whether your YWG is a male or female is he/she is going to gets his/her color back. If its a male, yes, in a stress free place, but females slowly mature into gray gobies. I have YWG that was yellow one day then gray the next, ygliest goby I have ever seen, but so much personality.

Thanks for the info. I don't see why he would be stressed..My YWB is the only goby in my 100g tank. Is there an easy way to tell is YWB is male or female?

No way! I'm a PADI diver too, I took 5 months of classes and all I need is open water to be certified.
I'm scared of doing the open water training though because of the sharks. Was it hard/scary? What did they make you do, if you don't mind me asking?
I'm scared to death, I haven't even set up a date or anything I'm scared I'll chicken out, but I need it for my career.

Very cool. You should not worry about sharks. Trust me sharks are the last thing you should worry about. The open water dive was very fun not scary at all. All you have to do is practice your basic skills in the ocean and the instructor wants to see if you are comfortable in the water. You will do just fine. Whats your major? Marine biology ?
