LOL I'm sorry for laughing. Honestly. It just amuses me that someone would think of Laguna Seca for the vintage car races. We have the vintage car races here at Mid Ohio and I don't know of anyone that would travel all the way across the country to watch them. Laguna Seca hosts the MotoGP combined with the AMA Superbikes. Yeah- I know the racetrack still has a few other select national series, but the MotoGP is the only international series the track has now.
My main reason for flying out to California in 1993 with my girlfriend was to see the USGP at Laguna Seca. I had several bonuses at the time. My sister and brother-in-law were living at Ft. Ord, so housing didn't cost me a nickel. We flew into San Francisco and were shown around Fisherman's Wharf. It's an amazing tourist trap, but it's also an awesome experience for those that have a tight grip on their wallet.
Monterey Bay is beautiful!! Cannery Row is another place to waste money for those that don't value it. The Monterey Bay aquarium was magnificent! I'm so glad that SiNaLOa213 posted pics of the jellyfish displays. It's been 13 years since I've been there, but the many jellyfish display tanks have always stood out in my memory of the trip. The Monterey Bay aquarium also houses a sea otter sanctuary which is quite commendable.
If any fellow midwesterner plans on making a trip out there for the first time, I will offer one big tip- it's cold. Not just chilly, but downright COLD.
