yet another cycle question

although this one is much more mundane than my last (and probably will be regarded as a bit silly to many here) ...
Is there any reason I can't start my cycle with the shrimp in a small filter "bag" placed in the sump? My wife is going nuts at the thought of staring at rotting shrimp in the display tank LOL
Thanks for any input,
Paul

I don't see why not...it will still decompose and create ammonia.
The only thing might be that in a higher flow area, the bacteria may not be able to break down the shrimp as fast. Not sure, but sounds like it would be OK to me.

Dont mind broomer, he is a little off this week, he is trying to psych himself up for new years. And his resolution to be THE best playshark centerfold, so right now, he is trying to get it out of his system so it will be forgotten by the time we put it to a vote.:D :D
ps, the shrimp will decompose and creat an ammonia spike, no matter where you put it in the water system. so go for it

LOL okay thanks again, now the burning question is, "what the hell is Broomer doing signed on the board at 3am his time?" No wait, what the hell am I doing signed on the board at 5am my time?
Later,
Paul (the shrimp's in the sump, down right by the pump)

LOL fshhub yeah reckon so! poor mrs broomer only sees him when the fish are asleep anyway, I heard she was changing the lighting cycle on the tank  and there is something *REALLY* scary about broomer as the "playshark centerfold" I might add!
