I have a 55gal with a striped puffer,chainlink eel,volitan lionfish(only a baby).I will be upgrading my tank at christmas time and i need to know what size of tank i will need to get.

A 125 would be a good, a needed, upgrade to allow those fish ample room to continue their lives.
I'd usually say get as big a tank as you can adequately afford and maintain, as with more space you have more room to adjust, add species, and there's more room for error. But a 125 would be a good upgrade as soon as able.
