people are now actually killing and mutilating sting rays in revenge for Steve Irwin's death. yes this is true. it's on CNN. i'll say it again because you probably don't believe me. people are now actually killing and mutilating sting rays in revenge for Steve Irwin's death.
now i've expressed before that i don't really care if random animals get killed if i don't have a personal attachment to them. so that's not why i'm upset. i'm not upset at the murder, i'm upset at the purpose. this DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!

WHOOOO are they trying to get WHAT across to? other stingrays??? are they actually trying to send a message to other stingrays?? like they actually expect all of the stingrays of the world to unite in shame & fear for what was done to Steve because they're now witnessing their fellow brothers being hacked up mafioso-style in revenge? people are now actually declaring war on stingrays through guerrilla tactics.

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) -- At least 10 stingrays have been found dead and mutilated on Australia's eastern coast since "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin was killed by one of the animals last week, an official said Tuesday, prompting concerns of revenge attacks on the normally docile fish.
The popular television star was killed last week when a stingray barb pierced his chest as he filmed a TV show off Australia's Great Barrier Reef, prompting an outpouring of grief in Australia and among his fans worldwide.
The dead stingrays have been discovered on two beaches in Queensland state, including two that were found Tuesday with their tails lopped off, state fisheries department official Wayne Sumpton said.
Sumpton said fishermen who inadvertently catch the diamond-shaped rays sometimes cut off their tails to avoid being stung, but the practice is uncommon.
Michael Hornby, the executive director of Irwin's conservation group Wildlife Warriors, said he was concerned the rays were being hunted and killed in retaliation for the TV star's death.
"It may be some sort of retribution, or it may be fear from certain individuals, or it just may be yet another callous act toward wildlife," he said.
He said killing stingrays was "not what Steve was about."
"We are disgusted and disappointed that people would take this sort of action to hurt wildlife," he said.
Stingrays are usually shy, unobtrusive fish that rummage along the sea bottom for food or burrow into the sand. When stepped on or otherwise frightened, a serrated spine up to 25 centimeters (10 inches) long in the animal's tail flares up.
The spines emit toxins that can kill small creatures and cause excruciating pain in humans. Few people die from the poison, but the spines can badly tear flesh and the wounds are prone to infections, including tetanus.
Hornby said people should treat stingrays with caution, but "there is still no need to ... kill or mutilate these important animals."

Yep ... just like when Jaws first came out, people were killing any kind of shark they could catch. It made no sense then and this makes no sense now.
Not what Steve Irwin would want.

stupid, stupid !! This was just a freak accident !! What are they trying to prove. It could happen to them as they are hunting down these animals.
I have been in the water with these huge beautiful creatures in the Cayman Islands......it was a wonderful experience.
Steve was all about teaching everyone about every animal even the "nasties" as he called them. Knowledge is everything

i agree to the fullest on puff's 40% idea cept i think it should be around 60%.
certain animals & insects need to go away too. permanently.
domesticated cats, houseflys, black widows, scorpions, chiuhuauas, and cockateels are all hopin onboard the ol' Erradication Express. if there was only some way we could just trade em all in and bring the T-Rex back. now THAT'S what we need.

i'm kinda back n' forth on seagulls. as much as i hate to get pooped on, it IS extremely hillarious to watch it happen to someone else! plus, if it weren't for seagulls then we wouldn't have that AWESOME song by Bad Company.
what if we swap pigeons for seagulls? pigeons do that stupid walk where their heads bob back n' forth. i swear, everytime i see it i'm like "stop it!!!"
