Okay. We all accept that this is impossible, right? I mean, the reconstruction of it anyways. IMO, the most perfect reefs are the natural ones... those few that remain after all we have done to desecrate them.
But, here it is. If you could build it... nothing's out. Personally, mine would be the size of the shark tank at the Tennessee Aquarium, be lit by a series of reflectors that used and stored natural sunlight, and would have sharks, triggers, eels, and lionfish that were peaceful and well-fed, and never ate any of the reef inhabitants. It would be largely self-sufficient, and I could feed everything in it by going diving. The inhabitants would be diverse and numerous, without there being so many that they were cramped or stressed in the slightest. The rock structure would be open, and the water flow would be provided by, yep, you guessed it, a waterfall! The tank would curve upwards in the middle and make a tunnel so that all of my friends and family could enjoy the view.
Practical? No. Impossible? Probably. My dream tank? Definitely.
So, what's your perfect reef?
