Zebra Moray eel in 55G

I got started in salt water aquariums about a year ago when a friend, gave me a 55g tank with a zebra moray eel and a damsel. Since that time I have been continually adding to the tank.
The eel is now about 20". I really like Mr Eel and would like to keep him. How big will he get? Will he out grow the 55? How will I know.

A zebra eel can get up to about 4or5ft. You can keep him in the 55gal if you don't add any other fish. However, if you're going to add other fish or already have other fish with him then I'd say you definitely need a larger tank. At least a 75 gal (perhaps a 90gal) by the time he's full grown.
