i have been reading allot and notice that in europe there is allot of these zeo systems out there. and allot of them are stunning. what is zeovit and why would they have a zeo reactor. is this some sort of food? whats the deal?
Zeo is the DARK side. stay in the light or they will suck you in with there over priced additives and equipment. If you want some over priced additives i can get you some from a supplier i deal with from mexico.
ZEOvit lowers nutrient levels in your tank beyond what phosphate sponges, etc. will do, which helps with coral growth and color. I have seen some really amazing tanks that use ZEO, but I have seen a lot of amazing tanks that don't. The stuff does work, but requires a lot of time and money to set up and get working correctly.
There is a coral farm in maryland which uses that system there frag tanks are beautiful. They just about look like theres no water in the tanks. And i have bought stuff from them with no prob

hook me up with the knowledge, or can you give me a link to the thread?
Zeovit is pretty much what I would call a snake oil that works. I've had great looking sps tanks way before Zeovit was introduced. I've also seen it do amazing things in my current system.
I've used Zeovit off and on for the past 13 months. My tank was covered with bryopsis 6 weeks ago, I mean COVERED, you could hardly see any corals. I started Zeovit again and within 2 weeks the algae was gone.
I stopped using it about 3 weeks ago and switched to ozone, The jury's still out on which is better. Some corals look better and some look worse.
I lucked out because I know the guy who makes most of the Zeovit reactors sold in the US and I did some work for a guy who sells the products so my startup cost was zero. The startup cost is probably around 200-250 bucks, it takes about 10 seconds a day to mix the reactors and another minute to drip the snake oils.
PO4's are the main reason to use it. My advice would be to spend your cash on a Hannah PO4 Coloirmeter (PO4 test kits are worthless) and go from there. I use two DI cartridges off my RO and switch the DI resin a lot.
