Ok I thought I had a pic but I dont... I will describe whats happening.
I have a colony of 25 or so candy apple pink zoas. Until about a week ago they were doing great. All of a sudden they just didnt open as much as they used too. And I am noticing that their outter tube and the underside of the polyp (when its open) is turning black. They are not shrinking but when they are closed the polyp tube appears to be turning black as if it were getting covered with something. But when I gently rub the polyp nothing comes off. Does anyone have any ideas?

Got a magnifying glass? See any of those stupid Zoa eating Nudi's? Hard to see sometimes cause they take on the coloring of the Zoa they are eating. Doesn't sound like Zoa Pox unless you are seeing some white dots on the stalks of the critters. If so then a Furan-2 dip is recommended.

Has your tank had a change in salinity or alkalinity in the past week or so? I noticed the same thing on a large colony of Tubbs Blue's in our larger tank. I took them out and dipped in Lugol/Flatworm Exit mixture. Nothing came out and now they are opening up like before.

The culprit was some very determined cyano... I have a small amount in the left side of my tank, and apparently where these zoas were was a stagnant area. Blowing them off or even gently rubbing them with my finger did nothing so I was stumped. But I finally decided to use a soft bristled tooth brush and go at a couple of the polyps that were affected the worst. And what do ya know it came off just as cyano does... they are 85% clean. Except the tops of the polyps I didnt want to stress them too much. I will dip them and then brush them again.
