Zoanthid Problems

I've got a 125 and have always had trouble keeping SPS type corals. Just spent 2 hours at the LFS and the water (as usual) is pristine. However, the guy asked if I had any zoanthids and leather corals.
I have literally a tank full of zoos and they grow like wildfire. He mentioned that this is a big no-no if you are trying to have SPS coral.
The LFS guy made some kaalk solution for me but said to use it sparingly. Is there another method to get these out? I tried reaching and yanking them off the rocks but its like trying to grasp a greasy piece of spaghetti.
I'd appreciate any opinions on whether or not the zoos and leathers are prohibiting SPS growth and if so, what's an efficient way to get those things out of there?
Thanks for any advice.
PS. my parameters Nitrate - 0, Nitrite - 0, dKh - 10, calcium - 460, pH 8.0, sp. gravity - 1.025, temp steady 74-76....thanks again

why would you just rip them out. frag them and sell them. There are plenty of people here always looking for zoos and leathers.
On the other hand there are several people that keep a mixed reef. I beleive they run carbon to keep the cemical warfare down.
