Ok can someone tell me what this is on my green zoanthids? a Few days ago they were fine and then i noticed this one not opening like 2 days ago and now today i notice some type of brown slimy stuff around it. Anyone know what this is and how i can get it off so it doesnt kill the others. Because its the only ones of these polyps i have. The last photo is from this morning.

it is hard to tell from the picture since that last one is just actinics but it could be some sort of bacteria. You could try removing it, brushing off the brown stuff and dipping them for 5-10 minutes in an iodine solution..

I have never done a freshwater dip but from what I understand it should be ok.
I think the most important thing is to remove the goo outside of the tank so in case it is something bad it doesn't get into your tank water.

well when i was in the process of removing the brown stuff the zoo fell off :( I just got the rest of the brown stuff off the rock dipped the frag into freshwater and put back into tank. So i have 1 less zoo on that frag. 3 polyps now. Hopefully those will be fine. Also does anyone know the name of these green zoanthids ?

Did you loose the one zoo or did it just fall off? If it just fell off you could reattach to to another rock or a piece of shell or something.
As far as the name, I would call them, green zoos but I am sure someone can think of a much more creative name then that.

Yeah i lost the other polyp. It fell off and had stringy stuff on it so i just tossed it down the sink :( Hopefully the others will grow and multiply though. Thanks for the help.

Just wanted tosay I love your tank. The zoa rock is awesome, as is the sun coral. And your LR has great color. Sorry for your loss, keep up the good work.
