Zoas closed

So I'm the "newbie about to buy zoas" --- and now am a proud owner of said zoas. Basically they ones that look like 'gorilla nipples' are always closed.. the other dull looking strand is always open. I've read that these things can happen, etc, but its kinda worrying me, cause they were always the more vibrant one, and always open and seemed to be enduring. the clowns do go near them -- but then wouldn't the other 'strand' close as well??

If they are always closed they might not like the light they are getting, or not getting. What kind of light do you have in the tank?

2 screw in 20 watt 50/50 coralife bulbs... the fixture is weird... old school.. one bulb takes one half of the tank -- the other bulb does the other half...
