Zoo w Alge

OK ... There is an alge outbreak on my zoo colony... see pic:
Attachment 213591
It is obvious this alge is hurting the zoo.
So ... plan of attack? I was thinking maybe fragging along the alge/non alge part before the alge gets worse.
Then what? Can you pick the alge out of between the polyps? How would you do it? Tweezing will get old quick!
And these things sting the hubby everytime he touches them! I'm kinda scared of touching it. Wonder if they will sting through rubber gloves?
So, suggestions?
Thanks.

Get a couple emerald crabs and while they are clearing the algae work on what is causeing the algae in the first place. Try kalwasser in your top off water per directions, protein skimming and phosphate removing with phosban or like product.
What is causing the algae to grow? Probably phosphates. Where are they coming from? Excess feedings? Water used for water changes?
Using Instant Ocean for water changes? Try something else like Reef Crystals or Tropic marin, something other than IO.
A sea hare would also wipe out the algae in no time, but you will need to watch that it cannot get sucked into a powerhead and once it has eaten all the algae you will need to find a home for it that has algae to eat.

I agree with the mithrax/emerald crabs or an army of blue leg hermit crabs.
-Keeping up on water changes
-dont use tap water. I fill my 5gallon jug with RO water at walmart, my area has good water.
-Agreed on good salt, I switched from instant ocean to Oceanic and noticed a big difference.
I wouldnt frag the rock because once you easliy get the algae under control those zoas will spread all over that large rock.
