    Reef Octopus question

Fired up the new protein skimmer today (extreme 200) and notice a couple "extra parts" that aren't described on the instructions. A yellow impeller looking thing and a ~3" x 3" black plastic mesh. Any idea what these are used for? Also, what is the general consensus on cutting down on micro...

    A ~19,000 Gallon Fish Tank

One thing that I didn't see mentioned so forgive me if I missed it, but don't forget what will be needed from a fresh water supply perspective when you go closed system during red tide.... I've got to believe at 115^F that evaporation will be significant. Thoughts on a closed loop type of...

    Flame angel cloud eye

Both eyes- could be some swelling. No signs of Ich on any of the fish. Again, they are new acquisitions from SWF and have been in QT for exactly 1 month today. Symptoms appeared to come on in the last three days or so.

    Flame angel cloud eye

would you get a 1600 gallon tank for free?

IMO, it's a waste to cut down. That 4" thick is due to the 7' height and would just add unnecesary weight to it being cut down. Just my .02

Riddle me this- fallow DT from ich

Well, I've been a member of this site for 4 years and still asking advice on said subject; so that would indicate that with all the threads I've read (I do much more searching and reading than posting) my current methods from past research have not been successful with the set up of this tank...

How do I fix these cracks - Acrylic

Water thin Weld-on product available in small glass bottle at most craft stores would work great. It has a capilary effect and is drawn into the gaps and actually fuses the acrylic together. That is the same method the manufacturer uses on all of the tank joints; so it's good. It will not...

    equipment swap

Nope, you will be fine. Your retrun pump determines flow rate into the overflow. If you feel it too much, you can put a ball valve in the return line to control the return flow. It won't hurt the return pump to restrict it's flow on the outlet side.
