The most important thing I do is NEVER let the tank slide...spend at least 30 minutes a day checking things...fiddling...testing...just general maintenance...I have done this faithfully for years...

To add what Q said...find a happy medium on the supplements...these are good parameters and i wouldnt add anymore for now....add only to keep the levels at this...

If heat is not a problem, I would use 250 watters instead of 175. The bulb choice is much better in 250 wattage...I would also use VHO...

Iwasaki makes a 70 watt lamp...100 and 150 watters are also availibale. I dont know what type socket or ballast is compatable with this lamp. I believe Iwasakis are mercury vapor lamps but I dont know if its a mogul, medium or DE socket... Is this ok? Well it was free right... and any...

IMHO No tang is a sure fire bet to be "reef safe" The biggest coral nippers I have ever had are purples and sailfins... If the question is aggression...... I think Sohals are the pit bulls of tangs.... I find that any tang thats is in the tank first will fight most other tangs introduced...
