I have a deep purple growth on one of my LR that I just noticed today. When I was adding water to my tank and I poured it above where that LR is, the purple stuff giggled like jello.
It's a tube about a half an inch long with a hole at one end. It's brown with little notches on it. I remember that it came attached to some green plant I bought. It doesn't move but has fish food stuck to it. I am unable to upload a picture.
I've had my 20 gallon tank for a year and the salinity is fine so is alkalinity. I have one damsel and one clown fish. I also have a chocolate chip starfish and a peppermint shrimp. I've had all these for months. How do I correct the levels?
I've had a sandsifter starfish for months and my levels are fine but I noticed the other day that he's not moving that much at all. He also seems very limp and I he only has one little section of tenticle feet that he's using. Help me!
If you have one, what do you feed it? I've read that they are very picky eaters and only like live food. If you have been successful in raising one, what do you feed it?
I was wondering what I could get that is cheap for my tank to clean up all the excess food/poo in my tank.I have two clown fish and 2 nassaruis snails. These snails do not really do a good job cleaning my tank. What other scavenger can I get?
What is it? It's only on one fish and it just started today. I also noticed that my clownfish are also not swimming together today. Whats going on? The fish w/out the white is staying near the bottom and flapping his finsh really fast while in place...water levels are normal except nitrate...
When I woke up this morning, I saw what I thought was one of my nassarius snails without its shell. I have two and I was able to see the one's horn sticking through the sand, but didn't see the other (I was in a rush to get to work) and I saw what I thought was my snail without his shell but it...
I thought it was aptasia but the main body is hard and when it closes in on itself, it just goes into the hard part. I can't get a better picture, sorry. Its above my peppermint shrimp.
So I bought another piece of LR today and found a tiny (about 1/2") brownish reddish crab. I went to grab him and he slipped into one of the holes in the rock. Any Ideas on what he might be?
Do any of you use background paper to make the tank look cooler? My tank looks pretty uneventful, mostly because its new, but I was wondering what else I could do to make it look cooler.
So my blue streak wrasse died yesterday. $20.00 literally down the drain. I wish that the lfs would have told me that they don't fair well in captivity but I'm assuming they were just trying to make a sale. Poor fish. So now I'm down to my two clown fish and still planning on what else I'd like...
So as of right now I have a nassarius snail, a bumble bee snail, hermit crab, peppermint shrimp, 2 clown fish and a blue streak wasse. I would like a list of fish that are compatible with everything in my tank for the future. I have a 20gal tank.
So I just bought Caribbean LR and there is a little spiky striped brown thing on the side. I don't have a good camera but I was wondering if someone could tell me what it is.
So I have the LS and the salinity under control in my 20gal tank and I want to go out and get some LR. Am I okay to introduce it to the tank today? When do I need to add the dead shrimp? Would someone please number out step-by-step. I have two clown fish that I also want to eventually put in the...
