You might want to try using a skeewer to hand feed him, this is how I feed mine and have had no problems.

there is a lfs here that isn't the classiest or high tech but their livestock is always healthy and they'll tell you the truth. Privately owned is sometimes better.

Well I had 3 large hermits but the medium size one was ate by the porky I suspect. I gave the largest away and am now down to the smallest which hides under a rock. So I thought these were the best bet for clean up but I was wrong.
