Should you always thaw froozen food?

I typically feed frozen food because it is hard to get live/fresh that are cheap in my state also I buy in bulk because it's cheaper then fresh. I however don't typically thaw the food out. I feed my fish shrimp shell on and brine shrimp frozen. of course im feeding more but those are the two that are frozen. the shrimp go to my fish like puffers and triggers. my fish do nip at the frozen cubes and they thaw out extremely fast in the tank.

Just wondering what is a better approach to feeding frozen foods. I have tried both ways I don't really see a major difference.

NEVER feed your fish food that is still frozen. home made food is the next best thing.

alright thanks I will start to thaw them out from now on. I didn't assume it was harmful to the fish but I guess I was wrong

yes if its not thawed frozen food will harm ther digestive system.

It's just my opinion....Sorry to disagree with you Trigger, but eating frozen won't hurt a thing, you don't have to thaw it for the fish's sake. For one thing the frozen food thaws almost instantly when it hits the tank, it begins to brake apart after a few seconds. The fish are nipping at the pieces as it brakes apart.

Frozen foods should be thawed and rinsed to prevent phosphates from building up in your tank. Frozen foods are loaded with phosphates, but then again so is everything else commercial we feed the fish. Homemade food is also a big risk of ammonia if the fish don't eat it all, remember we kick start the cycle with a chunk of raw shrimp.

LOL...I was referring to something like frozen Mysis...a little mini fish like a silver slide to feed your fish would have to be thawed first.
