At some point this week I'm going to get some fish, LOL. This break up with my ex has had me down for the last few weeks, but hopefully I'm turning the corner. Definitely looking forward to getting some corals and fish and that PUPPY!

What's the story on powder blues? When I get a bigger tank my wife really wants one.
I love my powder blue tang! and a month of qt is a must. powder blues aren't as much of open water swimmers as the other tangs so they will spend a lot of their time around the live swimming in and out of holes in the rock and grazing on algae. they are also aggressive towards new additions.

Well, more money for hobbies!

Get any fish yet?
Nah man, not yet. I've been so busy getting tattoos and puppy-proofing my apt on my days off that I haven't made an order yet. This break up hit me really hard over the last 3.5 weeks...lost 25 lbs, no sleep... you know, the normal broken heart stuff. I've had to really concentrate on school and work to keep myself from completely unraveling. Seth, it's crazy I tell ya, how life shows up sometimes. I'm beginning to accept it though, and the last few days have been tolerable.

I have Friday off: ribcage tattoo
Next Tuesday off: Right forearm/bicep outline tattoo
Next Weekend off: Driving out of state for puppy.

Maybe I'll make an order for delivery next Tuesday. That'll give me a few days to monitor the fish before leaving for the weekend. I'm leaving Saturday morning and I'll be back on Sunday afternoon, so it's not like I won't be able to monitor them for the whole weekend.

I guess I ought to start ordering livestock bc once the weather changes I won't be as focused on the tank.

I'm going to order some anthias and that frag pack for delivery on tuesday.

Also, I have seen a huge decrease in the algae on the one rock on which it remains. Today is an AlgaeFix dose day. The next day for it will be Monday. I'll do a w/c on Monday before dosing the tank. At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if the algae was completely gone by next weekend.

Awesome dude!!!

That's great that the algae is going away. I'm glad that stuff is working afterall.

Knowing me, I would have probably built a cheap algae scrubber to take care of the problem. Im glad the chemical route worked.

Oh, it's working wonders. I see a positive difference every day.

I would have rather manually removed the hair algae and gotten chaeto in my fuge to deal with the problem naturally, but not only have I had fresh tattoos for the last few weeks, I've also not really been in the best frame of mind to be putzing around with the tank. Quite frankly, life showed up and I've had to keep myself busy with snowboarding and being out and about. The chemical route was the only way I could take care of me and the tank at the same time since it requires very little of my time.

Also, chaeto or an algae scrubber would not have addressed the dinoflagellates that I was experiencing.

Photobucket still won't let me upload any files and the file is too large to upload directly onto this site. I ordered 6 disbar anthias, 1 DOA...the rest are okay so far and eating frozen but not pellets.

The anthias are continuing to do well. I'm pretty close to the 1.009 I need for hypo in the QT. I'm waiting for a new pump for the nano ATO since the one that I got didn't work.

Did a WC on the DT today and then dosed AlgaeFix and H2O2...not sure if the dinos are coming back or if I'm getting cyano/diatoms which is somewhat common after what the tank has been through. Frag pack to be delivered tomorrow.

I might have to pay for more storage on photobucket b/c it won't let me upload any more images, even though I've only used 20% of the allowed storage.

Wow, it's been a while since I last updated this thread. So, all of the anthias died in QT. As they were dying one by one, I was losing the battle with dinos and lost all of the corals (22) in short order. I was going back and forth about either selling the tank or putting it into storage and turned the lights out. After two weeks of lights out I turned them back on about a week ago just to see what would happen...still no signs of dino or GHA. I still have the purple tang, which is a relief.
I'm going to go out to a LFS tomorrow and see what they have and possibly get a few more fish for QT. I've decided that I'm not going to get any high-maintenance fish, at least for now. I just bought a boat and started dating the most awesome girl I've ever met, so my time and efforts are not exactly aquarium-centered right now. I'm not going to do any water changes on the DT until the fish are out of QT, since dinos die with higher nitrates and phosphates. If after a water change in 6 weeks the dinos do not come back, I'm just going to get another 20pc sps frag pack and let the tank chill for a while.
