20g ideas for peaceful tank

I need to start researching what I'm going to put in my 20g once it is done with its fallow period. It'll take a little while to procure them and then do a full QT.

So I know I want firefish, but open to opinions past that!

I was thinking 2 different firefish, nemateleotris decora and magnifica, blue neon goby, and then something that lives mostly on the bottom but doesn't burrow.

What do you think?

Certain clowns are. My occ dont bother a thing. Neither does my maroon but I wouldn't suggest that lol. I said spotted for a reason, there quicker to eating frozen foods

A pair of clowns, neon goby and yellow watchman goby are fun. If you don't want a yellow watchmen, a bicolor blenny is unique and fun to watch.

If you want something that stays small and also has unique colors and personalities, there is a wide variety of fairy wrasses that are also fun to watch.

Possum wrasses are kinda cute. lol. I like the redand white striped looking one. I saw one at my LFS in his display tank and they are fun to watch.

Hmmm maybe I'll just do a goby tank, since that's the ones I'm liking so far for this.

Also I should make it clear this is actually a 20 high and not long. So I'm concerned about certain fish feeling a little cramped with the lack of floor and swim space.

I'm not sure about something rated for a 30 going into this 20 due to its small footprint.

Well thought out. I have a 56 column. Also a high tank. The fire fish is really the only fish that uses the height

Fairy wrasses don't really mind the small volume so much. They even burrow in the sandbed to sleep. But, I understand the concerns. A opossum wrasse is a small fish that stays small and doesn't mind the space of a 20g tank. It's something to consider as well.

Gobies are pretty awesome, and they are common.

The fish that go into this tank will stay in this tank, so I want to make sure when they are full grown they will be happy.

My other tank is getting the size upgrade and it's an aggressive tank.

Your not an idiot it seems lol. You knew 20h is diff than 20L for your fish considerations. So fish you could easily do in your tank, are scooter blennys and mandarin draggonets. These fish will eat prepared foods. I have 5 in my 56 w a 6line wrasse. I have no pods lol
but u have to be willing to train them

I'm open to suggestions still. Not saying I am getting all gobies, just realized everything I do think I'm getting is a goby.

Yeah I know. I'm definitely not like that, actually I'm kind of bad and do so much research I talk myself out of it LOL.

Such as, my tank that is almost a year old has no coral even though I've wanted some since I started it, because I don't feel like it is actually ready LOL

And this tank that is going fallow for 10 weeks because I'm not certain the fish that was in it didn't die of disease. It wasn't parasite as I did full QT.
