Mushrooms are a good start, very easy, just be careful cause they spread like weeds, we have them popping up everywhere now, wish we had contained them to once rock a little better, but we didnt know. They are very aggressive to other corals too.
I would start with maybe a torch plate coral , they are very hardy and easy and some have good colors too. Lobos are fairly easy as well.
Lobo medium flow and light.

Plate corals , very colorful, easy. Low in tank normally sandbed, low to med light low to med flow.

Excellent shots! Are plate corals safe around Angels? I've got 3. My mushrooms are fine and I have a type of button polyp (I don't know the name) that they seem to leave alone. I'd love to add something like that plate coral.

OH, angels are a different matter. I have a flame angel and a coral beauty and neither of them touch our corals, but in saying that I know they are reef safe - With caution. just like the foxface we had 99% fine with corals we happened to buy one that was NOT . at least plate corals are on the cheaper end so if you buy one and they eat it, then you haven't lost a fortune , might be worth a try.

@Bryce E Your welcome, I only guessed the @ thing because its used on another forum I go on. Lucky it worked, Thank you for the lovely comments about the tank, we do put a lot of hard work into it and although its a money pit it is our pride and joy, Dont know if you've read my last post but we are taking the plunge and adding quite a few new fish shortly, sick of having a relatively empty tank, lots of corals but very few fish, so crossing fingers on that one.

Mandy, those are both beautiful. So you think they would survive in a tank as new as mine.
Yeah, they are certainly one of the easiest beginner corals, and dont cost a fortune so if you fail its not a massive financial loss. just remember though that the key to healthy corals is not so much what your parameters are but the stability of them. eg. Some people have low alkalinity friend only runs 6.4dkh. but its always 6.4, it doesn't go from 7.6 to 6.4 to 8.3, so have good numbers but don't spend your whole time chasing and adjusting, corals don't like that at all.

. The other thing with lps corals is they do like some phos and nitrates in the tank, low numbers but some. To high not good at all, too low can be just as bad unless you feed them heavily.

I just took a bunch of pics, inspired by Mandy. I have the equipment (Nikon's and prime lenses) but my eyesight is getting so bad it's difficult to focus anymore. Anyway, here's my batch, taken about 45 minutes ago and butchered in Camera Raw + Photoshop. Kristin, the hippo tang shot is for you. As you can see by the look on my Queen Angel I was taking my life in my hands ;-)

Hi at @Kristin1234 . Thank you. Your tank looks like its relativity new ? We had a foxface just like yours but it started eating all our corals, so he found a new home very quickly, too scared to try another one, corals are very expensive here. Are you looking forward to some coraline coloring up your rocks, wont take long once you start, some people don't like it though, personal choice I suppose. Nice scape, lots of hiding places.
Corals are very expensive there? In Australia? Which has the Great Barrier Reef? btw, I'm from da Bronx, N.Y. Any aggressive or nasty behavior is just what makes us so lovable ;-) Oh, and Kristin, if you're reading this, why is your light shining through your overflow slits?

Yes, corals are very expensive here, for instance that red lobo I showed is approx $120 to buy, seems anything with color (other than brown and green) is expensive. bought a clam about 6cm long and because it had blue mantel was $220.00. I don't know what your prices are like but I consider ours very expensive.

Thank you @mandy111 Yes, I love color and it kills me that I can't really go all out with corals but I love my Angels more. My Blue Face (who was hiding so I didn't get any snaps of him) was badly beaten and terrorized by my previous Queen Angel. He's recovering now but his fins are a bit chewed up and he's got cauliflower fungus. Both have cleared up in other fish I've had so I'm sure he'll be looking better in a month or so.

Here's a video of my tank. I've since added a LARGE Flame Angel.

Oh, and the prices my local LFS charges would make you drool. A 7" clam with deep blue, purple or green lips (I'm not too savvy on technical terms) is only $100.00 None of the mushroom clusters or the anemone is more than $40.00.

Umm. Idk? Is it not supposed to? I do not have anything on the top of my tank and have a light that is about 2" above the tank.
