Anyone have a Bubble magus Curve 5?

I bought it last week and I cannot seem to get the water level right.

I ran it in 50/50 vinegar solution for 24 hours, rinsed it and I tried it at the 10 or 11" it recomends for a few hours. It was overflowing.

I made a little platform for it and it was at around 9.5 inches and I left it on overnight for over 24 hours and it is still overflowing. I now have it set on 8" and i will see what it is doing tomorrow.

The 8.5 inches on my reef octopus in the other tank was measure from the bottom platform of the skimmer to the water level, I hope the BM is the same way.

I don't have this skimmer, but I've seen several reviews where people say they work best at 7.5" water depth. Also, make sure the bubble plate is turned the right way. The holes should face away from the pump. If you aren't getting good foaming action, check the venturi to be sure there are no obstructions. The venturi is the rigid tube that sticks out above the water inlet of the pump... with the white flex tube attached to it. Without proper aeration, the pump pushes too much water into the chamber, causing overflows. If I understand correctly, there should be a dial on the water level adjustment. Higher numbers restrict the amount of water going into the pump, which results in lower internal water levels. If not, try turning it completely in each direction to see which direction gives the least amount of flow. New skimmer pumps can take a week or more to break in before they operate at maximum efficiency. It took a full month before my SRO worked properly. Water level for all internal skimmers is measured from the bottom of the skimmer to the surface of the water in the sump/skimmer compartment... ;)

Thanks, I saw a video guy had his running good in 23 cm or 9 something inches. I set that up before bed last night. I'll see what it does

Well, I pulled the skimmer out of the sump and place it in a bucket of saltwater so I could add water slowly starting at 7 inches.

Overflowing at lowest setting in 7" (maybe 10 minutes or longer in between changes to let it settle) 8" overflowing and in 1/2" increments after that all the way to 12" and still not having any luck.
i have watched several videos and looked at a lot of pictures and it is put together right.
Maybe I'll take it back for store credit hopefully and order the Reef Octopus 150 sss.

If it's overflowing on the lowest setting in 7" of water, I'd say there's a problem with it. Probably best to return it you can. Hopefully, the next one will work out better for you!

Yay! I had almost given up on my skimmer after a couple of weeks, and I'm glad I didn't! It turned into a beast... so you should be okay now. Glad it finally settled down. :D
