i found this coralife protein skimmer online ....

(coralife super skimmer with needle wheel technology)

so looks like it doubles as a HOB and an in sump, i'm building a sump so i want an in sump skimmer.
Would this skimmer work equally as good in the sump as it would hanging on the back? or better if you put it inside the sump?
im really considering buying this for my 55 gallon DT. Just wondering if anyone has ad experience with it before...

also whats the diffrence between that one and this....? are they not the same? is one for a bigger size tank orr...?

Hi,

Please, please believe me...do not get this skimmer! I HATED the one I had, all it does is blow micro bubbles, and it leaks, and floods and does not work well...I only emptied out the skim once a month...that's how long it took to draw anything out...it's a chunk of junk. Don't buy anything Coralife, they went out of business, all that's left is refurbished junk and stuff that couldn't sell.

Go for a nice Reef Octopus brand, or Tunze those are good ones...

Look at bulk reef supply. They sell the skimz monster mini skimmers, as well as a bunch of others. The Skimz are hard to find bulk reef is the only place I know of that sells them, the monzter mini line are small foot print in sump skimmers.

Hi,

I purchase nearly all of my equipment on-line, the LFSs just don't have the good stuff because they can't sit on it to wait for a buyer. Most folks who shop for equipment at the LFSs, are looking to start out, and want the cheaper stuff, since that's what moves, that's what the stores carry.

First, you don't NEED one quick. You will have your tank up and running for months before you would even begin to get skim, and unless this is a reef...you really don't NEED one at all. Don't get me wrong, they are nice to have, but don't jump at the first thing because you are in a hurry. I have never heard of the Monzter skimmer, but BRS may have this as their own brand, and they are trust worthy. The Tunze are pricey, but worth it. The Reef Octopus sss 1000 has a small foot print as well (I had one in my 20g sump), of all the skimmers I ever had (and I have had about 5 over the years, the worst one was the Coralife) The Reef Octopus was the best one, even better then the small Tunze I had. If I were in the market for a skimmer, I would go with the Reef Octopus again.

We can't supply you with a link, it's against the forums rules. Google Reef Octopus skimmer 1000sss and you should find one easy enough.

The skimz comes from Korea BRS distributes them, Snakeblitz has one and gave it rave reviews.

They have in sump and HOB...choose an in sump one! I personally like in sump skimmers much better then any HOB I've used.
