Just restarting a reef tank and need to know the proper salinity for mixing salt

I use a five gallon bucket and a power head to mix the salt

as long as it takes to get the proper salinity

A minimum of 24hrs is needed to get everything in the salt to disolve.

The reason you need to let it mix at least 24hrs is because there's a lot more than just salt in the mix and it takes time and a good power head for everything to dissolve. Calcium being only one of them.
