    duncan question

I bought a frag with seven polyps on it five days ago. I've got 'em about 16" down under a 150W MH, equal to about what they were acclimated to in my LFS. Low to med flow. They had opened fully by the next morning. I've target fed them mysis and a brew I make with Cyclop-eeze and...

Skimmer for 29 Oceanic CPR SR3 -vs- Tunze 9002

The Tunze was a good choice. I actually bought the CPR SR3 for my BC29 and returned it after three weeks. Perhaps it was something I was doing wrong- I won't deny that, even though I did speak with CPR's tech support person several times. It always seemed difficult to dial-in the flow of...

    Simple Fuge Question

Guess this is a dumb question- sorry. I am adding an 8 gal, under-tank fuge (new live sand, LR & chaeto) to my BC29, which is well established w LR, LRR, Tunze skimmer, etc. Since the fuge will be new, will it cycle? I was wondering if I should look for an increased bio-load in the DT...

    How to catch Damsels??

I brought a Scarlet Hawkfish home yesterday and my possessed Damsel monster fish started picking on him. This did not sit well at all, so I caught the little bully pronto. I cut a hole in the bottom of a 16 oz plastic drinking bottle big enough to slide the tubing from my homemade target...

    Jim's New BC-29

Hello- I know it's about time IO posted some pix. I think it's been up & running about two months? Gradual process, but it seems to be working (all fingers are crossed). Just wanted to share a bit and will post more later. I'm interested to hear comments on my mods. Thank you!

    Filtration and Flow BC29?

I understand the importance of adequate flow in my BC29, especially since I'm starting to add more corals. To date I am using the stock pump and a hydorflow, but now have a Rio 6H which I'll be inserting when my CPR-SR3 skimmer arrives next week. I was wondering if someone could help me with a...

    And in the beginning........

Whoa, Henry.... Your tank is awe-inspiring; absolutely beautiful! This is exactly what I was talking about when I said seeing these remarkable tanks keep me inspired to get to your level of expertise. Thank you for your suggestions as well... they make great sense. Man, I gotta get some pix...

    BC-29 Filtration/Skimming

Beautiful BC, Joe-L! You've got a real knack for it, and you've been really successful in growing such a great RT. **************** Okay- I came up with a plan/ experiment? With a BC29 I am not 100% sure whether my bio-load is enough to warrant a skimmer, but from what I have read, the...

    BC-29 Filtration/Skimming

Thank you... that is a very good point about widening the opening between chambers 1 and 2. I expect the pump does push the same amount of water, as you say, regardless of how large that opening is. Hmmmm... more fodder for thought.
