    Saltwater Centipede

I've been a part of the reef community for three years now, and always thought Bristleworms were beneficial to a tank as part of the CUC. However, my boyfriend saw CoraLife's Bristleworm trap that says Bristleworms can eat corals... Is this true? He's really worried now and wants me to make sure.

    algae on seahorse

Don't be afraid of flow in your seahorse tank. They really do love to play in flow, and, provided they're captive bred, they're really very hardy. My two h. Fuscus (from ORA) have a blast playing in the flow of the tank!

    algae on seahorse

It is fairly normal for algae to grow on seahorses. As long as it doesn't irritate or harm them, I wouldn't worry about it. If it irritates you, though, you can gently blow at the algae with a baster or gently remove it by hand It is not recommened that you mix species, though some have and...

Anyone ever put live Copepods into the tank?

We ordered three bottles for $30 ($5 shipping) of Tiger pods - a little bigger than your "normal" pods. Each bottle had between 800 and 1,000 and you could SEE them in the bottles. Just TEEMING with them! And now our seahorse tank is covered in pods and amphipods These pods were ordered from a...

    Hexagons for Seahorses

And here's Alice, our other lovely lady. She hasn't taken to the feeding dish as quickly as Bella, but she's learning:

    Hexagons for Seahorses

Thanks so much! Nick put a lot of work into the design - I absolutely love it! Here's Bella in one of the three feeding dishes. She was waiting patiently for Nick to finish taking pictures so I could finish feeding her

    Hexagons for Seahorses

This picture shows the Loc-Line spraybar across the top of the tank. (The pumps were off for feeding, which is why the level is low): This picture shows the back left portion of the tank, where the grow-light is attached, lighting the refugium inside. You can see that the glass is painted black...

    Hexagons for Seahorses

We posted this on another SW board and they asked for a diagram & pics so here they are! Here are OLD pictures of Version 1 of this system Nick did 2 years ago. The new version has NO powerheads showing, the sunpod, refugium, UV sterilizer, and WILL have a skimmer. Also the pics we will post...

    Hexagons for Seahorses

I've noticed that some people on the different boards I frequent are hesitant to use hexagon tanks with their seahorses, not knowing how they would use their equipment and etc. Our hex is actually a creation of my boyfriend, Nick. He has basically turned it into an all-in-one "nano." We have...

    May get into seahorses again.

I say GO FOR IT!! You know you REALLY wanna! And h. Fuscus are a fantastic choice. We just got two beautiful lady seaponies from ORA and they're doing GREAT! And in regards to using a hex tank, see my new post. They are, in my mind, the only way to go with seahorse/seapony tanks!

    Hydroid on seahorse!

Hi all- Well, after months of wavering back and forth, we decided to do another seahorse tank, but this time we ordered seaponies from ORA - h. Fuscus. A friend who has a fish dealers license ordered two females from ORA, and they arrived yesterday. (The cutest girls in the world, by the way!)...

    Temp Problems

You'd be surprised how hardy most fish and inverts are to changing temps in tanks. Unfortunately I've had to deal with situations like that, too, in the winter, but thankfully, have not had any disasters or losses. I think you'll be okay.

    Setting up a seahorse tank

You couldn't really do anything but Dwarf Seahorses in that size tank. Seahorses need to be in a tank at least three times their unfurled height. For example, if a seahorse is six inches long from coronet to tip of tail, the tank would need to be at least eighteen inches high. This is an ideal...
