T5 fixture for 100g mixed coral tank

Just thought I'd say I purchased an ATI Sunpower 6x80w fixture. Got it for a great price, it should arrive this Friday. I'll post photos. After reading more about the fixture I think I'll have to be careful not to burn corals even though I currently have almost 1000w of light running over the...

    I have a question

Yup, for diatom algae nothing beats snails. Once the tank matures this should be less of a problem, mostly just a film that covers the glass which needs to get cleaned every few days.

    Feeding a Panther Grouper

I agree with AquaKnight. Also, I don't think you will have problems with just feeding silversides. Feed him off a skewer, he will associate it with food and then you should be able to get him to eat other foods off a skewer. All my carnivorous fish start out very skeptical about taking the food...

    Cycled or not?

Welcome to the hobby! In a few months I look forward to hearing about how you have upgraded to a 125 gallon. Yeah, it's that addictive. Here's my advice, feed the aquarium as if you had it stocked with the fish you will be putting in it. In the future, it is ultimately this food you add that...

Need help quick! Porcupine Puffer with seriously cloudy eye

I didn't actually observe how he got it in the bag at the store, I had my two young daughters will me at the time. However, I'm sure he used a net just like he does for everything else.

Need help quick! Porcupine Puffer with seriously cloudy eye

And here's a shot of his left eye. The other eye looked just as healthy as this one yesterday. The white specks on top of him are sand, not a secondary disease.

Here's his eye as of 20 minutes ago. Remember his eye looked totally healthy a day ago.

Need help quick! Porcupine Puffer with seriously cloudy eye

Hi everyone, I'm still pretty new at keeping an aggressive tank. I never would have guessed it would be more work than my reef aquariums. I picked up a 6 inch porcupine pufferfish yesterday evening. He looked completely healthy and was active at the LFS who has had it for a few weeks. I put him...

    noisy powerhead?

This happens pretty often with all different brands of powerheads and pumps. Often they will fix themselves within a short amount of time, but if not then you just have to take them apart and put it back together again, cleaning anything necessary. The problem is that the magnet attached to the...

    Snowflake eel and lionfish compatibility??

The snowflake eel and the lionfish should get along just fine. In my aggressive tank, this is the only fish that my eel is completely indifferent to. The other fish have had to learn to stay away from the eel during feedings. As for the crabs, they can always end up on the menu with large...

T5 fixture for 100g mixed coral tank

Thanks, The tank is 60w x 18d x 24h. Desertdawg, do you mean the 48" 6x54w SunPower? If I got only a four bulb system it would be the 60" 4x80w SunPower which is only 3 less watts than the 6x54w. Of course, I have no idea if the longer bulbs are equivalently powerful per watt as the 54w bulbs. I...

T5 fixture for 100g mixed coral tank

Hi, I know there's a lot of info on these threads but I am hoping to get some specific advice. I have a 5' 100g aquarium with mostly soft and LPS but I do have a few SPS, clams and an anenome. My current light fixture (2-250w MH, 1-175w MH, 2-140w VHO T12) just blew a ballast and I'm thinking of...
