I have a question

I was watching my tank today and my new fish (damsel) and noticed that the sand was turbing brown. We started this tank on the 21st. I was wondering if the brown starting to cover the sand is normal or is it something bad?

WOW...you started on the 21st and have a fish already......what are your water readings?
yes...brown is normal....diatoms.....do you have any cuc (clean up crew) yet?

Yes, readings are good,
nitrites 0
ammonia 0
ph 8.1
nitrates 15
CUC: 12 hermits.

You need some snails.....get some nassarius, cerith and astrea

Yup, for diatom algae nothing beats snails. Once the tank matures this should be less of a problem, mostly just a film that covers the glass which needs to get cleaned every few days.
