I'll give the volute swap a try just to see the results. My feelings that the pump was too strong was because opening the valve anything more than a third is just too much.

Ok, I found algae clumps forming between the standpipe and outer PVC slide piece which covers the drain hole allowing for adjustment. I removed and cleaned the pipe and it did make a difference. OF water level is at a good level. But if I want to open up ball valve anymore, sump level drops...
