I have a pesty greenish film growing on the inside glass of my 90 gal. When I use the magnets it disappears in a cloud but reappears a couple days later.
What could it be? It's not hairy algae, just a thin film of very small particulates.
My parameters are great. My lighting is reduced as well...
My Octo Classic 150 Int skimmer has been working flawlessly for years.... Now the pump is not delivering its expected output. I have twice cleaned the needle-type diffuser inside the pump..... it worked for a while and got weak again.
I suspect that the diffuser is heavily coated with debris...
thanks again....
here is the bottom of my skimmer..... plenty of deposits.... no access..... tried running water and sloshing..... very little came out....
I use a turkey baster.... it's slow and time consuming..... would love to hook up a super slow pump on a hose. Cannot siphon.... no gravity.... the tank is on the floor!
Thanks
Thanks..... me too 7 years (?).... excellent skimmer..... clean collection cup at least one/week. I noticed a reduction of the air flow independent of the valve red knob position..... that why I dismantled it and cleaned it..... but no way to clean the bottom (see my pic).... that why I asked...
My skimmer is a "classic 150-INT".
The clear plastic bottom part is all sealed.... (not clear anymore)..... impossible to clean. I'm afraid the crud is going to stop the mixture air/water?
Any tips?
Thanks
Hi everyone....
I have a very well established 90 gal with two connecting 20 gl refugiums below.... Going super for ten plus years.... never dose anything..... two four gal RoDi WC per month.... super good Eshopp protein skimmer in tank #2....
question.... I'd like to keep my sand pristine...
the "stainless steel" clamps sold in automotive stores, Wal Mart, etc. are stainless steel (SS) only with the band.... the screw is magnetic.... the all SS clamps are sold in marine supply stores.
Thanks, I will follow your advice re-choice of goby! My tank has been established for ten-twelve years. The three tanks on pic are all connected. The water circulates between them. The protein skimmer is in the back of the bottom left. Rocks mostly stand atop two PVC tubing contraption that I...
Thanks.... I probably did not state that my substrate is very deep sand.. I just saved a lot of small pieces of dead coral for the goby's burrow. would that work?
My concern: How's the goby chose his spot to burrow in? How can I direct him to the best spot?
I have a great 90 gal plus 2 refugiums.... everything running smooth for ten plus years.... never check anything..... just two four gal WC per month..... some glass cleaning..... some turkey basting blowing on rocks..... excellent mechanical filtration (got rid of cumbersome FLUVALs)...
I used to drip kalkwasser in my 90 gal (20 gal + 20 gal sump and refugium)
Too much fuss.... I switched to 2 caps of Purple Up every two weeks.....
I don't dose...... the system has been stable on autopilot for 15 years.....
Can someone recommend a Calcium additive better that Purple Up?
Thanks
