Sgt york, What was your bulb life like with those? Ballast heat would not be an issue for me as well. Bulb life is what concerns me. Im all game if i can rig together a system 100 bucks running 4 vho bulbs.

Good Question, If it were me, i would probably just keep it. Just remember that your water might have some of the algae cells in it, so throw some bleach in your water before you dispose of it. I'd kill the algea by leaving out in the sun for awhile if your going to get rid of it.
