I have a 55 gal. flat back hex, the aquarium has been up since FEB. I added 20 more lbs of LS and 10 lbs of LR still no lowing of nitrates. Just about all of the balls are gone now. Still high nitrates. I have noticed the Nitrites raising. So I did a water change. Is there an additive I can add...

I'm removing the balls and still no lowering of the nitrates. What else can I do?

I have the same problem with my FOXFACE, he's alone in the tank now and I'm converting it to a reef and he has the same spots. I didn't know and I tried treating him for ick, did not work. I'm adding inverts today. Can someone help us???? :confused:

Me again, I'm slowly removing the balls. After they are all removed, should I keep the filter sleeve, clean the area where the balls were with a sponge or leave it alone. Also do I still need the Opti-pure in the back as well. I have a Seaclear system, therefore not much sand, do I need to add...

I have a foxface currently in my tank. what fish can I add if I plan on having corals. I've seen him nibbling at the finger aneome (spelling whew!) already. Any suggestions would help. I'm also getting the 1 invert package. I have no snails as of yet.

I can witness to what everyone is saying about Mandarin fishes. Everyone I've had has died within a few months. They are beautful fish, but hard to keep alive. I'd stay clear of them unless you want to witness a slow death!! :rolleyes:

I'm sorry you don't have enough light, even in your room to light your aquarium, if you plan to have corals. I had to bite the bullet and buy upgraded lighting, and it hurt, but at least my corals won't die. :rolleyes:

What does LR and LS mean? Take all the balls out. .Which leaves the filter sleeve, heater and the carbon bio in the back. :confused:
