    help! green water.

It looks like I'm just impatient, it appears to be clearing up.

    help! green water.

The tank is new, rocks were cured and dead for years, I put the water in using a 5 stage r/o di filter, I then added live sand to cycle and the rock work. The tank cycled nicely with the rocks in it after about 6 weeks. Once cycled I added inverts only for the first week or two then fish and...

    help! green water.

Yes I'm running a skimmer and I have a small chunk of cheateo in my sump, probably the size of a tennis ball. I've been running a real wet skim the last few days not really getting much out of it. I do have a decent amount of coral, from what I see it looks ok but I'm worried about what I can't see.

    help! green water.

I recently moved my livestock from my 75 gallon to my 180, everything went well, tank cycled perfectly, levels are perfect, then about a week after everything was in the water seemed a bit cloudy, I suspected a micro bubble issue because it wasn't that bad. The next few days the cloudiness...

how much live stock can be safely added?

Thank you, so as long as I'm getting a zero ammonia reading my plan is about half my coral one day, give everything a day to settle, then the other half of the coral the day after. Same with the fish, once the tank has sat for a day I'll add 1 fish, wait a day, add a fish, continue with that...

how much live stock can be safely added?

The rock and curing are things I already am knowledgeable on, what I'm trying to decide is how much coral i can safely add in one day and how long in between adding handfuls of coral.

how much live stock can be safely added?

For the last 6 years I've maintained my 75 gallon very well, I'm nearing the end of my 180 gallon build, nitrites are almost back to zero and I already have snails, crabs and micro stars thriving. I'm getting ready to add all my fish and coral and the only answer I get when I ask how much I can...

    UV sterilizers

Wow this is old lol. I got a random email bringing me here, but if anyone's interested I've come a long way. I now have a 180gal built into a wall with a hidden door/bookshelf for access to the 55g sump and all other equipment. Pretty elaborate especially compared to the previous set up. Very...

    Vermited snails help!

update- I've since pulled my filters, power heads and other equipment out to clean and found literally hundreds more of these guys and killed them, along with a handful on my rocks. Vermited snails help!

I've heard copper banded butterflies eat them but its hit and miss, I don't want to spend 50 bucks on a fish that might eat my feather dusters and who knows what else. I'll continue the fight and hope they decrease in numbers.

    Vermited snails help!

Theses little bastards are getting the best of me, I've been super gluing like crazy, blasting with boiling water and I'm losing the battle. Everyday I have to clean the mucus off my corals or they stay shriveled up and I fear will die. Does anyone have any info I have yet to come across to get...

    Orange / rust colored algae

Diatoms seem to be the likely suspect. So more frequent water changes and let it run its course? That's about what I'm reading.
