How do you determine the size to get and good micron? Other question, doesn't this make yer sump nosier as the hose isnt in the water anymore but suspended above the sock? Or am I thinking of this wrong?

Check craigslist in your area, or local reef club. They often have people getting out of the hobby with live rock on the cheap.

9 is coming out of the di? It should be zero on a new unit. I'd expect 9 or so ot of the ro, but 0 after it goes through deionization.

I have an eshopps and I have randomly tested it 10 times. Not one single failure. But yes test it several times before to get the water level right, and everything, if not it might work fine as in the siphon and all but your sump didnt have enough space for the overflow and backflow and floods...
