I had a ton of them swimming around on my initial cycle! It was actually more fun to watch them than the 2 False percs I have, at the time (they are kinda boring fish!)

Sweet! I am actually happy that this is a normal thing. I came home to my tank like this and got pretty freaked out! I guess the shocking thing is that it really came out of no where! Thank you to those who have helped in defining what exactly was going on in my tank!

So if it is diatoms then what is the best way to get rid of them??

I keep the SG low ecause I have found for it to keep nitrates lower. I use chaeto, and LR and LS in my fuge. The tank has been setup for about 2 months but a lot of the fish and LR came from a 6 month 55g.

So i need some help with what looks like to me an algae outbreak all over my tank. Yesturday the tank was crystal clear, and the rocks looked fine, and today after getting back from lunch I see my tank covered with a red/orange algae all over the rocks and starting on the sand. any ideas what...

i had the exact same things in my 55 awhile ago. They looked pretty cool but never worried about anything. They went away after awhile!

i have had my midas for about 2 months now. When I got him, he hide in his new home, and stayed there after only offering mysis. When i used garlic and flakes, frozen, and dried he has now been out all the time! Good luck!

soooo... an update! I took the pinnatus batfish back to the LFS where hopefully he can find a better home than the one I thought I could have given him! I am thinking about adding a smaller porcupine to the tank? Any experience with that?

I believe from what I have left over is somewhere around 100-140lbs of LS. If you would like some I will still sell you just 10lbs or whatever! email me
