good skimmer for a 10 gal

I need to buy a protien skimmer for a 10 gallon tank but I'm not sure what to go with. I really don't want one that goes in the tank. I was thinking about a sea clone but I hear that they're total garbage. What makes them so bad? Would a sea clone work ok an a small 10 gal or does anyone...

Anyone ever use a DI tap filter?

ok, well I'll give it a try. In a worst case scenario, if I have to change filters relativley often, I still know it has to be better than what I'm using now.

Anyone ever use a DI tap filter?

One more question than I'll leave you all alone. I talked to the owner of a LFS today and through a conversation told him about the problem I had with my DI filter not lasting very long and mentioned that I was going to buy a RO/DI unit. He told me that if I get one, it won't last long either...

Anyone ever use a DI tap filter?

well thanks for the help and posting a pic for me to get an idea. The only reason why I wasted my time with the tap DI unit is because another site said that a multi stage ro unit needs to be professionally installed but that apparently doesn't seem to be the case so I'm going to be getting a...

Anyone ever use a DI tap filter?

very slowly. The directions said to fill up half a cup of water so that it takes 25 seconds and that is what I did. There was however one day that the water pressure was fluctuating because I was doing my laundry. I slowed the water down when I noticed that it did that but is that why it...

    Yet another diatom thread

If it has bubbles on it it's probably cyano bacteria. If they are slimey, than they are more than likley cyano.

Anyone ever use a DI tap filter?

I have one of those Deionizer filters that hooks right up to you fauset with the replacable cartridges. They are full of these tiny green beads that turn purple as the cartridge is used up. The cartridge is about 15" or so long and the directions say that when the entire length of the...

Any one ever used play sand??

DON'T DO IT!! Speaking from experience, it's pure silica! You will never get rid of the diatomes and cyano until you get rid of the sand!!

    Powerheads

Yeah, they're necessary, especially if you have corals. I two that size in my 16 gal reef tank and it's flourishing. You still need powerheads even if it's fish only though. I'm not sure about all the reasons why but one good reason is that it will help prevent cyano bacteria and you fish...

    simple lightning questions

It's almost time for me to replace the bulbs on my current satallite dual PC lighting fixture (model 1012 incase anyone out there is formiliar with this unit) and I have a couple questions because I have some options and want the best possible bulbs. 1) What does Actinic mean? 2) One of the...

    Are these tangs safe together?

I really don't understand the differance between a 55 and a 75 as far as keeping tangs go. They are both the exact same length and the only differance is that a 75 is about 6 inches wider. That's not a big differance but 75 seems to be the magic number for tangs for some reason. I'm not...

can't figure out what I'm doing wrong!!!

It's been four days now and my tank still looks just as nice as it did when I cleaned it. The corals looks happier and healthier than I have ever seen them and now I think I finally can buy some new coral and not have to worry about it dying or shrinking. I recieved my package from this site...
