    NOVA, Calurpa taking over

    They actually found a patch growing in one of California's bays/harbors and had to destroy it. They covered it with a tarp and pumped in the chlorine, eliminating every living thing caught underneath.

    NOVA, Calurpa taking over

    Did anyone else catch NOVA last night on PBS about the Calurpa Taxifolia (sp?) taking over the Mediteranean Sea? It was quite interesting how fast if was spreading and how destructive it was. It is now spreading to other parts of the world and beginning to choke out native species. And the worst...

    DT's out of business?

    I was at That Fish Place yesterday and asked why they didn't have any DT's, since they haven't had any the past two times I have been there, I was starting getting curious. I was told that it was discontinued, but I just thought the store stopped carrying it. Now it seems as if the rumor is true.

    Fish scratching more after garlic?

    Thats just the thing that makes this whole ordeal more of a mystery. I did QT all my fish for three weeks prior to placing them in the main tank (Not all at once, but rather over four to five months). I think the thing that set off the attack was that the bicolor made it into my overflow box...

    Fish scratching more after garlic?

    Well, the bicolor blenny isn't looking too good. It's a good possibility that he'll pass this weekend. I am not going to be home this weekend, so hopefully the hermits, emeralds, and peppermints will take care of the body. I do have someone to feed the clowns and tang garlic soaked food while...

    Fish scratching more after garlic?

    Dang that was fast. I hardly had any time to start working. I figured that was the case with the scratching, because they wouldn't scratch at all for the few hours I am home before I feed them. Then, after feeding, they begin to scratch. It is all quite perplexing to me.

    Fish scratching more after garlic?

    I have been feeding some garlic soaked food to help combat a minor ich problem. I noticed that about five or ten minutes after I feed my fish, they begin to scratch more on the rockwork. The clowns and kole tang are doing this even though they show no signs of ich, as only my bicolor blenny...

    Bug of the Week - Munnid Isopods

    The neatest thing is to watch my clowns stalk these guys as they scurry around on the glass. The clowns will stair at the glass and wait for movement, then bam, dead isopod.

    Phosguard = Dead Corals

    The galaxae was not close to any other corals, so there was no chance of stinging the other corals. I just thought that maybe it dieing could have done something to the others. The tank is 8 months old, so the cylce is long over with, and the trates are at zero due to no trates going in with top...

    Phosguard = Dead Corals

    My torches, frogspawn, and hammer are all beginning to peel away from their branches and not inflating much at all. Once I noticed this happening, I pulled them out of the main tank and put them into my 10 gal. QT with a cheapo 18" flo. light strip. There are three possible answers to this...
